For starters I chose this website because I go to this site at least 3-4 times a day. What can I say I love soccer and keeping up to date with my news and everything that goes on 3000 miles to the east of me. Specifically, why I chose this article is because of the happiness it brings me to know that my Barcelona won a day after Real Madrid lost, putting us that much closer in the chase for the league title.
1) If you look to analyze the different types of media you can clearly see at the top of the page there is a video showing the highlights of the game. Through the video you can tell how emotion packed the game was for all 90 minutes. So I guess you can say the video gets to the literal point of the piece and for most people that would be enough. Well, i'm not most people, I need to know what happened play by play and all the ins and outs of the game not mentioned or showed in the minute long highlight video. Through the article, the reader can really dig into everything that occurred in the game from the first controversial call to the late hard foul that had a player sent off and left one team with 10 men instead of 11. Then, we continue down the piece and look at the interaction section. This part of the article is my favorite because of the range of different type of people it attracts. Of course you get your couple of people who just say "SCREW BARÇA REAL MADRID ROCKS!!", or something of that sort. But when you really look into it you get those true fans who bash on their team when they're slacking off and praise others when it is deserved.
2) The strengths of each type, well I mean I answered that in the previous question didn't I? Anyway something else I just thought of is the flexibility to change languages in the article as well as in the interaction sections of the piece. The fact that you can do that not only makes the piece easily understandable by all people of the world but also provides the website with more viewers/readers.
3) To be completely honest i've never critiqued a piece of news like I am with this assignment, but if I were to be picky and point out the small flaws, it would be the lack of an audio piece. I mean, its not like this site doesn't offer "AS radio" (mostly talk shows, interviews, etc.), so why not incorporate something on the piece of an audio sort? Its not a matter of funds, or productivity, so what is it? Maybe I send an email across the Atlantic and find out, guess I gotta get back to you on that professor.
Good job - see Blackboard for your score.
