Missy Elliot Steals the Show

Although many rumors circulated profecizing an appearance on the behalf of Missy "misdeminor" elliot, many didn't believe this was acutully true, however, skeptics were made believers as she stole the show along side Kat Perry. Most ironically, Missy has not released an album in over ten years, yet, she now has 3 top 15 songs on itunes and her streams on websites such as youtube have increased by over 600%! Ms.Perry and Elliot, seemingly the two least likely to be friends were able to create a mind captivating show both entertaining and surprising, keeping us on the edge of our seats. This performance has received much press attention and the story has even made its way onto Washingtonpost.com, one of the largest and most respected papers in circulation. Author of the article, "Everyone started listening to Miss Elliot again after the Super Bowl" Ehale Izadi, was able to bring together various forms of mass media to tell this story.

Text was one form of multi-media. Izadi was able to write a short story that described what happened without going too much into detail. An approach much appricated by today's younger readers who don't look for extremely long and intricate stories, even though when done correctly it can almost paint and exact picture in your head while allowing your imagination to take part in the fun as well.

Video, was another form of multi-media used in this story. Both a clip of the actual performance as well as a video of Missy were posted in the article. The clip of the performance filled those in who missed or didn't pay close attention to the show. While the video of Missy's "Work It," helped refresh some people's memories of the female hip hop artist and help to further introduce her to others.

" The New Kids think I'm a new artist.." Missy tweeted out shortly after her performance. Many other artist affiliated with Missy's tweets were also posted. Such as timberland posting
" Now that's what I'm talking about @MissyElliot you kilt that," other artist such as Justin Timblerlake also kept the come back star in their tweets. This was the coolest part of the article because it was interactive in the sense that it included other artist close to hers posts and opinions. A comments section was also added at the bottom to include the opinions of average everyday Joe's as well.

This brought everything together and made the article come full circle since it brought the opinions and reactions of some many different people together. And not to mention social media is clearly the biggest form of media right now and has so much of an impact on our everyday lives. Other links related to Missy were also added to the article for those who still want to further know who she is.

Through text, video, social media, this article is the upitimy of what multi-media journalism is. Many if a follow up audio clip was added that would have added another dimension to the story.

  1. Good job but you didn't include a link to the original story - see Blackboard for your score.
