POD CAST ASSIGNMENT

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ur1osmgvWzs
how to start a dipping biz / care for the gun.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Il3Z5adYs_Q
Rising price of the NSX.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=res40dhusLU
What is the next collector car you must buy.

Now what I like about these "podcasts" is that the last two are very well made and the first is kind of a grassroots effort / early start for a business.

The last two are from /Drive, which is a well known Youtube channel. The first is from the up and coming company Dip Your Car AKA DYC.

All of these casts are helpful, instructional, entertaining and something I would visit again. The two video's from /Drive are mainly based upon the rising prices of the Japanese sports cars from the early to late 90's and how their market price has been steadily increasing over the past few years. The DYC video is an instructional on how to care for your DYC gun and start your own business.

For car guys these videos are something we crave because they influence our financial decisions and future regarding the car market. Most of my close friends in my car club have built their cars as I have so when we see something like this we tend to share it with others to increase their knowledge and help them make good decisions regarding painting or buying a soon to be collectible.

News Podcasts

#1 Hillary Clinton Is Ready To 'Stand Out' As A Female Candidate

http://www.npr.org/blogs/itsallpolitics/2015/03/23/394724359/hillary-clinton-is-ready-to-stand-out-as-a-female-candidate

As a busy person, it is hard to make time to sit down and read the newspaper or even watch the news on television sometimes. However, I like to know what is going on in the world that I live in. This podcast talks about Hillary Clinton running for the presidential election. This podcast was well made. They even incorporated parts of Hillary Clinton's speech from her political campaign. Listening to this podcast, I know now that Hillary Clinton is really playing her "female card". Clinton believes that saying she is a female and that she wants to be the first female president will get her the votes of women. Not only was this podcast useful it was also entertaining and informative. I would definitely visit Tamara Keith's podcasts again.

#2 Jeb Bush To “Actively Explore The Possibility Of Running For President”

http://radio.foxnews.com/2014/12/18/jeb-bush-to-actively-explore-the-possibility-of-running-for-president/

In my opinion, I did not feel like this podcast was very useful or informative. The title really speaks for itself and so there was not anything much more they said. They were mostly just repeating the the title. They seemed very disorganized as well. The title has the name "Jeb Bush" in it so you would think they would focus it on him, however, they mentioned how John McCain had about an 18% chance that he would run for this presidential election. I personally do not see the point in mentioning other candidates in this podcast being that their main topic was to talk about Jeb. I would probably not jump to visit this site again. I was surprised that I did not like the podcast. I thought being that it was from Fox News it would be very informative and  organized but that just was not the case.

#3 This Morning With Gordon Deal

http://podcast.mktw.net/wsj/audio/20150323/pod-wsjtmit/pod-wsjtmit.mp3

In the beginning of this podcast they started off by introducing the show with theme music and announced the host, Gordon Deal. This podcast was well organized and I really enjoyed listening to it. This podcast had commercials throughout the whole podcast, like radio stations have. They also had incorporated a different (professional) person, to talk more in depth, for each different topic. I was very impressed and would definitely visit this site again. It was very informative, informing the public on topics such as technology in hospitals, the myth of senior discounts, march madness, and what an American can earn by playing pro ball in Iraq. Gordon Deal did not focus on just one topic which made me feel like I was listening to the radio. This podcast was very entertaining.

Harry Potter, Real Time with Bill Maher, and The Combat Jack Show

1) MuggleCast: Quiddditch and LEGOs by MuggleNet.com

This podcast focus' on the sport of Quidditch in the Harry Potter series. The three panelists talk about colleges playing Quidditch against each other. Every year hundreds of teams from different colleges in the U.S. and other countries go to Randall's Island in NY and play. They cut to two interviews during the show of a college student who played the position of a seeker in Quidditch.

  • During podcast they don't explain how Quidditch is played. I felt they could of briefly explained it for new viewers like myself. This is why I wouldn't watch it again because it is not for people who don't know every little detail about Harry Potter. I also didn't find it to be very interesting.
  • It was well-made, concise, and very informative about said subject.
  • Information was not useful to me but maybe interesting to some Harry Potter fans.
  • I wouldn't visit this podcast again.
2) Real Time with Bill Maher (episode #346)

This podcast focus' on overtime segments with guest panelists alongside Bill Maher. He is known for addressing racy news topics and politics. This episode was based on the SAE fraternity racist chant. He made jokes to add comic relief to his podcasts which makes things more interesting. He also asked his guest panelists for their input to which they all agreed with his opinions in their own way.

  • This podcast was entertaining and well-made, I would consider watching it again in my spare time.
  • It is useful for those who actively watch the news and follow politics.
3) The Combat Jack Show (J. Cole Episode)

This podcast has two male hosts who interview famous hip hop icons and artists or pretty much anyone in the music industry who has made an impact. From famous hip hop pioneers such as Russell Simmons to LL Cool J, Combat Jack has interviewed a plethora of important music legends. This episode he interviewed rap artist J. Cole and talked to him about his new album 2014 Forest Hills Drive as well as questions beyond the music like social issues.

  • This podcast only has two interviewers and doesn't have people call in and ask questions. I wish they found a way to incorporate fans into their podcasts because there are a lot of people who love music and want to ask their favorite artist questions.
  • I believe this podcast was well made and I always watch their podcasts so I would definitely watch again.
  • These podcasts are very informative and you can learn little gems here and there.
  • I found this entertaining because my favorite musician was being interviewed.
In conclusion, all podcasts are about different topics but have similar styles of doing their podcasts. Each panelists for each podcasts has their own unique way of getting their information out to their viewers, some more interesting than others.

*ALL of these podcasts were watched on iTunes.

Analyzing Baseball Podcasts

Podcast #1: MLB Trade Rumors Podcast

link: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/02/mlbtr-podcast-with-guest-andrew-miller.html

I frequent MLBTR several times a day for the most up to date baseball news so I knew I was going to check out one of their podcasts upon hearing about this assignment. This podcast stood out to me because it featured an interview with new Yankees' pitcher Andrew Miller so I was very interested in listening to it. Overall I enjoyed listening to the podcast; however, there were a few things that stood out to me. First I noticed that the host of the show didn't have a typical radio style personality, this caused a problem for me because I found myself dozing off at times. Besides that, I enjoyed the format of the show, it starts with a summary of what you're to expect from the rest of the show, then jumps right into the interview, which is what I really wanted to hear. The interview was handled very well, he asked great questions that the interviewee seemed to respond well too. Due to the host, Jeff Todd's un radio-like personality, I probably wouldn't go out of my way to check out this podcast again unless it had another interesting interview.

Podcast #2: 3/19/15: MLB.com Extras | New York Yankees

link: http://mlb.mlb.com/fan_forum/podcasts/index.jsp?c_id=nyy

If you're as big of a Yankee fan as I am, then you've probably heard of Bryan Hoch, beat writer for the Yankees. When I found out he is regularly featured in a Yankees podcast on MLB.com, I knew I had to check one out. Hoch has provided me with very inciteful posts on my team over the years and his podcast was no different. The Yankees star center fielder, Jacoby Ellsbury is questionable for opening day and I was hoping to hear what Hoch thinks on the injury. Very useful information that you might not usually hear about in the preseason. I liked how the host Matthew Leach covered a lot of questions with Hoch in a very short amount of time, nothing dragged on and it was quite informative. I would probably stick to reading Hoch's blog posts but this was not bad at all, if I noticed he did a podcast and I wanted to hear a little more about a certain player or topic, I might be inclined to check it out.

Podcast #3: Baseball Prospectus: Yankees 2015 Season Preview

link: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=25685

This podcast caught my eye because it featured an interview with my #1 favorite Yankees' beat writer, Chad Jennings. Jennings writes for the Journal News as well as authors my favorite sports blog, the LoHud Yankees blog. Before Jennings was interviewed, host Sam Miller interviewed co host Ben Lindbergh who claims that Derek Jeter was extremely productive for the team in 2014, his final season. I get what he's saying how he produced loads of revenue for the team, and that's true; however, his abysmal season hitting primarily in the number 2 spot in the batting order crippled the Yankees in 2014. It is very well known that Derek Jeter was detrimental to the team in 2014, so it was very interesting for me to hear someone explaining their opinion on why he was actually beneficial to the team. Jennings followed about halfway through the podcast and provided a very interesting interview. He talked about a journalist's perspective on the whole A-Rod situation and how it's annoying and repetitive, yet amazing to cover something like it. He continued to talk about other aspects of the Yankees, which is always interesting.

As far as getting my baseball information goes, I'll probably stick to reading blog posts and articles as opposed to listening to podcasts simply because it's hard for me to stay focused on them. Overall I enjoyed all three of these podcasts, I might continue to check them out in the future, but it won't be my primary source for baseball information.

Wedding Planning, Traveling to Europe & Reality Shows

This podcast is for couples planning their wedding. They have conversations with newlyweds and wedding professionals sharing their firsthand experiences. This episode talks about planning a destination wedding, it’s gives you tips and how you can create a vacation that is affordable and unforgettable for you and your guests. As an audience I find it very interesting and helpful since this is something I’m very interested in. As a student I find some things that they can improve.
  • This podcast is made well, I like how they talked about one specific person’s situation. I liked how they gave examples on how to budget a destination wedding and they had an expert talking about all the details that go into planning a destination wedding
  • I recently got engaged and I am planning a destination wedding and this podcast was very useful because it gave me an idea of how to plan my wedding and all the things I need to keep in mind regarding the location and my guests. Also they gave very great tips on how not to go over the budget when you are doing a destination wedding. I liked how almost at the end they gave the contact information of the expert so that people that need guidance or have questions can contact her
  • It was entertaining, but I wished the commentators would’ve been a little more energetic. Being a bride, you are excited and happy so when you hear people talking about wedding planning you kind of want them to sound excited as well. That’s just my opinion. For example,  the expert that was talking, her tone of voice was more exciting. You can feel her energy just by the way she talked.
  • I would definitely visit this podcast again because the information they provided and the tips for planning a destination wedding were very helpful for me. And I can recommend it to couples that need advise or tips in planning their wedding

Italy’s Decadent Desserts; Respecting the Pasta; Food Markets of Paris

I’m a huge fan of Rick Stevens, when I went to Europe this past summer I watched a few videos of him to get an idea for the best places to visit in the countries that I was going in Europe. I never knew he had a podcast channel. This podcast talks about different countries in Europe and he gives recommendation with experts on where to eat, where to stay and what to visit when you go to Europe. This episode gives great insight on the best desserts that you can find in Italy if you ever visit, it also talks about the proper way to prepare, cook and eat pasta and also a list of few food markets in Paris. as an audience I found this podcast to be great. I’m a huge fan of Rick Stevens because I like traveling and food and that’s what he does all the time. As a student I found this podcast to be very entertaining, well made, long, but very informative and very detailed, which is great for people like me, who are interested in trying new food and traveling.
  • This podcast is very well made, I really enjoyed the whole thing. I liked that he had a Italian food expert Fred Plotkin, which gave great information about the Italian desserts that you can find in different cities in Italy. I liked how he named a few of the desserts that you need to try in you ever go to Italy. I like that Rick Stevens had a couple of callers asking for advices on where to eat for people that were planning to going to Italy. The food expert was great, he gave great recommendations on where to go in different cities. He explained how the desserts in the north are very different from the desserts made in the south of Italy. He really explained that Italians take great pride in food. There was also a guide from Sicily that gave us advice how to prepare and eat the pasta, the do’s and don'ts. For example, how we can never break the spaghetti before cooking it, how not to use a spoon and a fork when we eat spaghetti (which is normally how Italian restaurants in the US do it), how you can never break the spaghetti with a knife when you are eating your meal because for Italians it means that you are killing the spaghetti. Rick also talked with a expert in markets of Paris and where to find the best ones and the different kind of food markets found in Paris and the dates that these markets are around.
  • I love making desserts and I love to travel so this podcast was very helpful because I learned where to find the best desserts in Italy and also the food expert gave names of books for recipes so people can bake Italian desserts. I also learned a lot more about Italian culture regarding their food and going to restaurants because just like in France they take their time when eating a meal, Italians never push you to eat fast at a restaurant, and how there is a difference between hospitality and service when you go to a restaurant. When you eat a meal in Italy is a wonderful experience and they really make you feel like a guest and very welcomed.
  • This podcast was very entertaining. I liked that they had callers asking questions to the experts and I also loved how they played music between each caller. And also played some Italian music and the end. Even though it was very long, I was not bored at all. I was very interested about what they were talking about the whole time.
  • Like I said before I’m a huge fan of Rick Stevens so this podcast is definitely something that I would visit again. For any trips I plan in the future for Europe, I will make sure I listen to a few so that I can go to the best places for food and also to understand the culture of each country better. I’ve seen videos of him and bought books and they’ve been very helpful so listening to this podcast will be another great option for me.

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills AfterBuzz TV AfterShow Episode 18

This is a weekly podcast that discusses the weekly episode of the real housewives of beverly hills. They usually have three commentators talking about what happened in the episode. For me, personally I enjoyed this podcast only because I am big fan of this specific show. I just find it funny all the drama that happens there. This episode talked about the fights that happened with the ladies at the show when they went to Amsterdam. As an audience I found it entertaining only if I have a lot of time in my hands. As a student, I think there a few things that I would add to make it more original and interesting.
  • This podcast is ok made, but only for the people who watch, and enjoy the show. I like how each one of the commentator has their own opinion and they really talk about each details of each episode. It’s interesting how each one has a different perspective on the show and each one has their own favorite cast member. I wish they interviewed viewers and maybe some of the cast members each week and talk to them about what happened in that episode.
  • I find this podcast not to be useful. This is only for the people who like these types of reality shows but other than that they pretty much do what I do with my friends after we watched the show. Just normal girls talking about the episode. There’s really noting educational about this podcast. There’s nothing original about this.
  • I do find entertaining because it reminded me of the conversations I have with my friends who watched the show. They make fun of the drama between the housewives. The only thing I would like to change is that sometimes the girls that are talking about the show tend to interrupt each other and sometimes it’s difficult to keep track of who’s saying what. So it’s a little distracting
  • I will not be visiting this podcast anytime soon. I don’t find it very unique, like I said that’s something I can do with my friends. Also, everything they talk about is on the episode and you can watch it yourself on TV.
